After a traumatic incident during his residency, young medical student James Heyman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital for a fresh start. Noting that James was having increasing difficulty communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran stage and screen actor Michael Potts) recommends that he take a course on proper bedside manner and fostering a closer relationship with patients. The demons of James’ past catch up with him when he is overwhelmed by the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to fade as his disturbing nightmares, anxious speculations and physical trauma collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles a strong ensemble of seasoned actors for this humanistic and unconventional vision of the genre, which follows on from its predecessors SAINT FRANCES and GHOSTLIGHT.
