Dreambert and Bedsmith, two creatures of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He claims that they must have passed out watching TV the night before, but before he can explain, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, of the Star Sprite species, arrives, claiming to be their friend. She says she planned to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unaware of their surroundings. They wander around the town, acting as if they don’t recognize either their surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they have been friends for a long time. Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names as she leads them around, trying to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith remain disoriented and unable to understand their past or their connection to Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially believing that they are just pretending to forget. However, as their strange behavior persists, she begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens and she wonders if there is something more behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are returned to the house where they first woke up, and Wonki, still claiming to be their father, gives them a bed that feels unfamiliar. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia run through their minds. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
